Let’s be honest, man: You thought there was no damn way Pirates actually existed. I can’t say that I blame you; however, I can say that you were dead wrong. As we now know, Somalian Pirates do work. As Americans, we sometimes fall into an affliction known as “big dick” syndrome. What this affliction does is allow us to think we’re indestructable and/or unbeatable. This is simply not the case, people. We need to tighten up. A US vessel was overtaken by Somali Pirates recently. As the “superpower of the world,” though, of course, this can be highly debated at this juncture of America’s being, we should be able to actively defend ourselves against rogue attacks.
Pirates exist — they’re real and they’re dangerous. Should we start to shy away from taking cruises or enjoying open-water fishing? No. Let us now realize, however, that what we see on Pirates of the Caribbean — a personal favorite series of mine — can, in a lesser scale, prove real.
